Student Birthday Gifts

I posted here about the "No Homework" passes I created to go with my student birthday gifts.  I grabbed the free birthday balloons from Once Upon a First Grade Adventure in her post here and printed them on card stock.  My silly printer doesn't have a manual feed, so I actually printed them on plain paper and glued them to card stock.

I hand wrote "Happy Birthday! Love, Mrs. Green" on the back of each and taped on a homework pass.

Then I attached the balloon to a fun shaped straw.  The straws were a dollar store find with six in a package.  I put them all in a mason jar with the label that came with the balloons.  I always seem to have at least one student who likes to "take" things, so I'll find a nice high shelf on which to set the display.  I'm not quite sure yet if I'm going to have a birthday wall display in my room.  I'll see if I have enough wall space for that.

What do you do to celebrate student birthdays?

  1. I used these birthday balloons but attached them to a laffy taffy rope. I know some schools don't let teachers have candy in the class, but so far my district doesn't have a NO CANDY policy...yet!

  2. I love the idea of using a No Homework pass! I think I will have to add that idea to my list of "want to do's" for next school year. :) I enjoyed reading your post. I am a new follower.
